white rainbow across the Arctic Sea
Sam Dobson was aboard the '50 years of Victory,' the world's largest nuclear-powered icebreaker, when he spotted a white rainbow which is also known as a fog bow. With camera in hand, Dobson snapped photographs of the rainbow as the ship approached the rare atmospheric phenomenon. According to Dobson, "At first it just looked like a cloud, but as we got closer it was a solid rainbow, but white. We were so impressed with it we all got off onto a floating slab of ice to take a closer look. It is actually closer than it looks in the pictures." The fog bow appears white because of the miniscule size of the water droplets measuring smaller than 0.05 millimeters which diffract light rather than reflect light like a normal rainbow. A fog bow is also known as a cloud bow.
Penguin love in the Antarctic Peninsula
A pair of penguins hold flippers as if to express their love and devotion in a scene worthy of a penguin romance novel... if such a thing existed. The photo was taken by Silviu Ghetie in Port Lockroy which is located within the Antarctic Peninsula. Said Ghetie, "This is the first wildlife picture I have ever taken but it's actually very apt because it just goes to show you can find the same patterns in both nature and people. I started taking pictures primarily because I was amazed by the landscape. The light and the atmosphere was really interesting. Then as I walked forward the two penguins came into view. I always think penguins look very much like humans from behind anyway but this was particularly funny because they really did appear to be holding hands."

VIDEOCLIP: Addictions - Directed by Giovanni Bucci
Addictions - directed by Giovanni Bucci from GiovanniBucci.com on Vimeo.
This video is about addictions, mainly to technology, but it’s open to various interpretations.
Years ago the idea behind technology was to give people more free time from work and give us a better life. So nowadays, with the possibility for the majority of people to have access to electronics and hi tech, is it true that we have more spare time and a better quality of life? Or have we become addicted to the technology that surrounds us everyday and it has suck us into it? But humans get addicted really easily to a lot of things in life and this video is also a metaphor about addictions in general, about being manipulated without even realizing it or without reacting.

A Newspaper For The Twitter Age
BERG is betting on it. When Webb gave Co.Design an exclusive preview of Little Printer last week ("You're, like, the thirteenth person on earth to see this," he said in Skype conversation from London), he was visibly giddy. "We're sick of not telling everyone about this, so we've just decided to tell everyone," he explained, grinning. Little Printer is exactly that: a palm-sized, cube-shaped, cloud-powered thermal printer with an adorable pair of feet and a cute face. And what does it print? A personalized mini-newspaper--with content curated from partners like The Guardian, social media like Foursquare and Facebook, as well as stuff created by BERG itself--and output on a receipt-like paper strip no longer than 10 inches. "Each information source we think of as a personalised 'publication' that you subscribe to from a kind of 'app store for paper,' collated into a delivery that arrives at a chosen time," Webb tells Co.Design. You "feed" Little Printer by selecting content via a remote-control-esque smartphone app, and then get your mini-newspaper delivered "once or twice a day." Think of it like Flipboard, but without the screen.

The 90° degree vase by Cuatro Cuatros
The 90° vase by Cuatro Cuatros (Four Fours) is based on an illustration of an optical illusion called the 'Penrose Triangle' where three lengths of square cross section are joined to form a triangle. The illusion of continuity is accomplished by 'false perspective' where the image displays ambiguous depth. An opening on the top of the vase accepts stalks of flowers which are are fed with water stored inside the tubular construction of the vessel. Cuatro Cuatros describes the 90° vase thusly: Is this an impossible triangle?
The interposition, orientation and perspective create a contradiction of the space that makes us perceive something that is not. It comes from the Penrose experience. 90 ° is a vase that, based on a drawing, has been converted to a geometrical shape with volume. Depending on the point of view, both ends coincide and make it look like a closed figure.
Image with sunflower seeds
A Shanghai-based artist named Hong Yi paid homage to dissident Chinese artist Ai Weiwei by creating a portrait with only sunflower seeds. She describes the project as follows: “I was inspired last weekend to do a portrait of Weiwei. Initially the idea was to just do a small A4 sized portrait of him, but then I thought I’d bring my materials out to the little lanes of my longtang and do a portrait of him in public…what an attention-seeker, huh? But Ai Weiwei does that too! Oh, guess what medium I used? No, not paint – that’s so BOH-RING! – I collected 100,000/7kgs of sunflower seeds, and this is what I did…”
