E-volo multicopter
A trio of German collaborators - Alex Zosel, Stephan Wolf, and Thomas Senkel - have developed a single-seat 'multicopter' called the E-volo which is powered by sixteen propellers. The lithium battery powered vehicle weighs 80 kg (176.36 pounds) without a passenger but with a passenger on board, the propellers are capable of lifting over 300 pounds for a duration of 10 to 30 minutes depending on the total weight of the payload and battery capacity. The current E-volo uses a joystick for directional control but future models might have conventional steering controls implemented to create a class of ultralight aerial vehicles for commuters.
