pillow robot stips snoring
Researchers from Kabe Laboratory at the prestigious Waseda University in Tokyo have developed a robotic pillow shaped like a bear which stops snoring in heavy sleepers. Dubbed 'Jukusui-kun' which translates to 'Mr. Deep-Sleep,' the pillow-bear is fitted with a microphone to detect snoring and is armed with paws which brushes a snorer's head to halt the guttural sounds of sleep. In addition to the microphone, a sensor also monitors the sleeper's pulse and blood oxygen levels - when snoring starts, blood oxygen levels drop and the pulse quickens. Jukusui-kun was exhibited at the 19th International Robot Exhibition (IREX) in Tokyo earlier this month but plans for commercialization have not been announced.
